Job summary

Confidential Search in East San Diego County, CA seeks a seasoned Estimator to price civil and utility work. Projects range from small to large-scale work for regional utilities and state transportation agencies, plus private development. The firm self-performs, so estimates are built by its own crews.

You’ll perform take-offs, build unit costs, and prepare competitive bids following prevailing wage rules. Collaborate with PMs and field teams on constructability and value engineering.

Qualifications

• 5+ years estimating experience in civil, heavy civil or underground utility construction.
• Civil engineering or construction management background preferred.
• Experience estimating large-scale underground utility projects and horizontal civil work.
• Track record bidding for government/public works and private development.

Responsibilities

• Perform take-offs for earthwork and underground utilities, trenching and paving.
• Build cost estimates from labor, equipment, materials and subcontractor quotes.
• Prepare competitive bids for public agencies, following rules and procurement standards.
• Solicit and negotiate supplier/subcontractor pricing.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks and bid reviews; submit proposals on deadline.
• Collaborate with project managers and field teams on constructability and value engineering.
• Maintain unit costs and cost database; support turnover and change orders.
