Job summary

Confidential Search in East San Diego County, CA, is seeking an Estimator to price civil and utility work for public, private and development projects. The role reports on-site with direct hire status and requires commuting to an East San Diego County office.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of estimating experience in civil/heavy civil or underground utility construction, and a background in civil engineering or construction management is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years estimating experience in civil, heavy civil or underground utility construction.
• Experience bidding on government and public works projects (prevailing wage, DIR).
• Proficiency with HeavyBid, B2W, Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Perform take-offs for earthwork and underground utilities.
• Build cost estimates from labor, equipment, materials and subcontractor quotes.
• Prepare competitive bids for public agencies and utility owners.
• Solicit, evaluate and negotiate supplier and subcontractor pricing.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks and bid reviews.
