Job summary

Confidential Search in East San Diego County, CA is seeking an Estimator to price civil and utility work. This on-site role supports bids for public agencies and private developers, building unit costs from historical data and coordinating with project teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in civil/heavy civil estimation, experience with HeavyBid/B2W/Bluebeam Revu/PlanSwift, and a strong grasp of procurement rules. Office commute in East San Diego County is required.

Qualifications

5+ years of estimating experience in civil, heavy civil or underground utility construction.
Experience estimating large-scale underground utility and horizontal civil projects.
Track record of government and public works bidding (prevailing wage, DIR).

Responsibilities

Perform take-offs for earthwork, underground utilities, trenching, shoring, paving and concrete.
Build cost estimates from labor, equipment, productivity rates, materials and subcontractor quotes.
Prepare competitive bids for public agencies and utility owners, following procurement rules.
Solicit, evaluate and negotiate supplier and subcontractor pricing.
Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks and bid reviews, and submit proposals on deadline.
Work with project managers, engineers and field teams on constructability and value engineering.
Maintain unit costs and the cost database, and support project turnover and change orders.
