Job summary

Motiva Enterprises LLC is seeking a Senior Civil & Structural Engineer to provide civil and structural expertise for major capital projects. The role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, reliable, cost-efficient execution from concept through startup.

The position is onsite at Motiva’s Houston HQ with a 9/80 schedule and remote work options on scheduled Fridays. Requires 10+ years in heavy industrial environments and strong code knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 10 years of civil and structural engineering experience in refining, petrochemical, oil & gas, energy, or heavy industrial environments.
• Experience with structural steel design, reinforced concrete, foundations, and site development.
• Strong knowledge of civil/structural principles and industry best practices.
• Experience reviewing designs, calculations, drawings, and contractor deliverables for accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Provide civil and structural engineering support for major capital projects in refining and petrochemical facilities.
• Review scope, deliverables, work plans, and execution strategies.
• Assess contractor designs for technical accuracy and compliance with codes and standards.
• Ensure designs meet applicable regulatory requirements and project specs.
• Perform design reviews and constructability checks to ensure quality and consistency.
• Support analysis and design of structural steel, foundations, and site development.
• Coordinate activities across engineering contractors and project teams.
• Identify risks affecting cost, schedule, quality, or execution and propose mitigations.
• Participate in design, model, and constructability reviews and risk assessments.
• Support procurement and construction through technical evaluations and document reviews.
