Job summary

Wendel is seeking a Senior Civil / Site Engineer to lead civil/site projects from concept through construction across New York State, collaborating with owners, municipalities, contractors and regulators.

This role offers opportunities to mentor engineers, manage multiple projects, and contribute to growth in site development across NY offices including Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester, and Williamsville.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York or reciprocity ability.
• 10+ years of civil/site engineering experience.
• Experience with site plan, utility, grading, drainage and stormwater design; land development permitting.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and execution of civil/site projects from concept through construction.
• Prepare and oversee site plans, grading plans, utilities, drainage studies, and contract documents.
• Serve as Project Manager for multiple concurrent projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and client expectations.
• Act as primary contact for clients, contractors, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects successfully.
• Review calculations, reports, specifications, and design documents for quality.
• Represent Wendel at client meetings, planning board meetings, and agency reviews.
• Lead QA/QC reviews and provide technical oversight for deliverables.
• Mentor junior engineers and staff for growth and technical excellence.
• Develop client relationships, participate in proposals, and support business development across NY.
• Ensure compliance with DEC stormwater requirements and SEQR processes.
