Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join our Water Civil preconstruction team in Phoenix, AZ.

You will support estimating for water and wastewater treatment plant projects nationwide, focusing on earthwork, sitework, and yard piping from quantity take-off through GMP estimate development. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering, with strong math, analytical and communication skills, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering required.
• Experience in preconstruction or operations strongly desired.
• Water/wastewater treatment plant project experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to read drawings, specs and geotechnical reports.
• Knowledge of estimating principles including cost models and GMP processes.
• Strong math, analytical and communication skills.
• Proficiency with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, On-Screen Takeoff) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop or manage civil cost models and GMP estimates for CMAR and Design Build projects.
• Perform quantity take-offs.
• Assist with internal estimate reviews and final assembly of owner presentations.
• Evaluate bids and develop scope comparison documents.
• Prepare contractual exhibits for scope of work for subcontracts and direct information to subcontractors.
• Collaborate with engineers to influence project design.
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors and clients; represent McCarthy at industry events.
• Review project documents to identify value engineering and alternative pricing.
• Communicate with engineers and owners to clarify scope, materials and schedule requirements.
