Goodwin Recruiting is seeking an experienced Estimator for Large Civil Construction in Livermore, CA. The role focuses on reviewing civil plans, performing quantity take-offs, obtaining quotes, and building comprehensive cost estimates for major infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in heavy civil, expertise with HCSS Heavy Bid, and strong math, reading of drawings, plus a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy civil, underground, or public works construction.
• Proficiency with estimating software (HCSS Heavy Bid).
• Strong knowledge of civil infrastructure methods, materials and equipment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret civil plans, specifications, and bid documents for large infrastructure projects.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for earthwork, piping, structures, and utilities.
• Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and material suppliers, negotiating pricing.
• Develop comprehensive cost estimates, factoring labor, equipment, materials, and overhead.
• Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and constructability concerns.
• Prepare bid packages and present them for internal review and submission.
• Collaborate with operations and project management teams to ensure seamless project transitions.
• Maintain and update cost databases and historical unit pricing.
• Participate in post-bid reviews and project debriefs to support continuous improvement.
• Monitor market trends, labor rates, and new construction methods related to public works
