Job summary

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development state office is seeking a Lead Civil Engineer to guide engineering and environmental protection functions associated with RD program activities and internal review processes.

You will advise on engineering aspects of housing and business programs, coordinate team work, and provide technical leadership to ensure compliant and effective project design and execution.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree with ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
• Courses in statics, dynamics, strength of materials, fluids, thermodynamics, electrical fields/circuits, materials properties, or related areas.

Responsibilities

• Advise on engineering aspects of Rural Development Housing and Business programs, including energy loan/grant proposals.
• Supervise team assignments, deadlines and workload to align with mission and vision.
• Advise on planning, design, bid advertisements, contract awarding, and construction management.
• Interact with applicants/consultants regarding funding documents for projects.
• Counsel on policy, planning, design, construction or environmental work, and project costs.
• Provide training to staff on civil engineering and environmental protection activities.
