Job summary

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s NRCS State Office in Davis, CA seeks an advisor on engineering phases of NRCS programs.

The role covers establishing technical standards, procedures, and training field personnel, with oversight of the engineering work across the state. You will lead in standards formulation, program coordination, and reporting, while ensuring compliance with state regulations and maintaining current engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Provides staff leadership in all phases of the NRCS engineering programs in the state, including formulation of standards, specifications, engineering planning, design and construction.
• Oversees engineering planning, design and construction, including watershed planning and coordination of operation phases.
• Maintains up-to-date engineering standards and trains field engineers.
• Supervises engineering staff and ensures compliance with state rules and regulations.
• Prepares reports, maintains records, and identifies opportunities to reduce field workload.
