Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead civil design for renewable energy projects, including solar and wind infrastructure, substations, and transmission components. This is a remote-first role with strong self-discipline and virtual collaboration.

You will oversee feasibility studies, prepare drawings and specs, manage budgets and timelines, and ensure compliance with relevant standards. Requires PE licensure and 8+ years of infrastructure experience.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant civil engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on infrastructure design and construction.
• Demonstrated experience with renewable energy projects (solar, wind) or similar large-scale civil infrastructure is essential.
• Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS) and project management tools.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with proven ability to work autonomously in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the civil design aspects of renewable energy projects, including site grading, drainage, foundation design for turbines/panels, and access roads.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and environmental impact assessments related to civil infrastructure.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documents for civil works packages.
• Oversee remote construction supervision and quality assurance for civil elements, working closely with site teams and contractors.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, coordinating virtually with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ensure compliance with relevant South African engineering standards, environmental regulations, and renewable energy specific guidelines.
