Job summary

City of Seattle’s Seattle Public Utilities is seeking a Public Works Senior Civil Engineer to lead the preparation, review, and stamping of contract documents for major water, wastewater, and drainage projects. You will manage bidding processes and serve as the city’s central contact during bids, ensuring all specifications meet APWA/CSI formats and industry standards.

You will review 90% and 100% design drawings and cost estimates, identify bid items, and coordinate with design teams to address

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent background.
• Five years Professional Civil Engineering experience.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and stamp contract documents for municipal infrastructure projects using Design/Bid/Build.
• Manage the Ad/Bid/Award process for SPU CIP projects.
• Sign and stamp front-end specifications (Divisions 0 and 1) and applicable technical specifications.
• Develop clear contract specifications in APWA and CSI formats.
• Review drawings and cost estimates at 90% and 100% design milestones.
• Identify bid items and write payment language.
• Serve as the central city point of contact during bidding; coordinate with design teams.
