Job summary

The City of Buffalo seeks a Senior Engineer to lead civil engineering projects from design to construction, including cost estimating and contract oversight. You will supervise consultants and staff and coordinate with other city agencies to advance sewer, water mains, streets and related structures.

The role requires a Professional Engineer license or equivalent, relevant degrees and substantial field and office experience.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Engineering or a closely related field and one year of full-time engineering experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field and two years of experience.
Associate’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and four years of experience.
Professional Engineer license and current registration.

Responsibilities

Supervises and participates in preparation, review and revision of plans, specifications and design of proposed engineering projects.
Supervises cost estimates, time schedules and contracts for construction jobs.
Prepares procurement proposals for consulting and construction services.
Manages consultant and construction service contracts from procurement through closeout.
Reviews invoices for payment of services and inspects facilities for conformance with plans.
