Job summary

The City of Buffalo seeks an Assistant Sanitary Engineer to perform moderately difficult sanitary engineering work in design, investigation, analysis, and construction of sewer systems and treatment facilities. Responsibilities include using AUTOCAD for contract plans and guiding field survey teams.

The role may supervise junior staff, prepare cost estimates, and assist in developing programs. Requires a civil/environmental/sanitary engineering degree and relevant experience.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Sanitary Engineering and two years of full-time engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of sewer, treatment plant, and pump station plans, specs and design.
• Direct field survey units and assign work.
• Prepare materials specifications.
• Conduct and prepare reports on equipment efficiency.
• Prepare cost estimates and schedules for sanitary sewers, pump stations and sewage treatment plant construction projects.
• Supervise and review work of a unit.
• Perform design work for alteration and extension of sewer systems.
• Perform computer aided drafting/design using AutoCAD.
• Perform related duties as required.
