Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Lead Consultant, Civil Engineer in our Charlotte, NC office to lead civil design projects for power, industrial, and municipal clients in the Southeast. The successful candidate will direct design teams, interact with clients, and deliver calculations, reports, and construction drawings while ensuring QA/QC and adherence to safety policies.

Travel may be required. Strong leadership, project management experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office are essential

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering (required).
• PE license in NC or ability to obtain within one year.
• 7–10 years of professional engineering experience.
• Valid NC driver's license and ability to travel.
• Experience in project management and leading teams.
• Proficient in Civil design software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Direct small to medium design teams and manage scope.
• Prepare proposals with scope and costing documents.
• Coordinate with senior staff and stakeholders for project execution.
• Perform civil design work: erosion, SPCC, grading, hydraulics.
• Prepare permit applications and respond to agency comments.
• Create construction drawings and specifications.
• Produce client-ready reports and drawings.
• Evaluate design options with cost/benefit analysis.
• Mentor junior staff and ensure QA/QC.
• Travel to project sites as needed.
