Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Consultant Civil Engineer for our Charlotte, North Carolina office to support civil design for power, industrial, and municipal clients in the southeast. You will execute calculations, develop design options, prepare reports and construction drawings, and collaborate with clients to foster lasting relationships.

The role requires FE registration within a year, 3–5 years of experience, and proficiency in Civil design tools and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) registration or ability to obtain within one year.
  • 3–5 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Valid NC driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle screening.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and meetings.
  • Strong knowledge of Civil design software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Participate on small to medium project design teams.
  • Assist with scope of work and costing documents for proposals.
  • Coordinate with engineering staff and junior team members to manage project execution.
  • Perform civil engineering design including erosion and sediment control, SPCC plans, grading, hydraulics, hydrologic analyses, and stormwater management facilities.
  • Prepare construction drawings and specifications.
  • Assist with client-ready reports and drawings.
  • Evaluate design options and cost/benefit of solutions.
  • Mentor junior staff.
