Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer / Project Manager to lead civil site design projects remotely or from a St. Louis area office.

You will own small to mid-sized projects from concept to construction closeout, blending hands-on design with full project management responsibilities for site development, grading, drainage, utilities, and construction plan sets. Essential qualities include independent work, strong communication with clients and agencies, and proficiency with Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred for the Senior role.
• Missouri licensure or ability to obtain Missouri licensure ideal.
• Experience with stormwater design and site development.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil site design for small to mid-sized projects with a focus on parks, public spaces, municipal work, land development, streetscapes, trails, and conservation projects.
• Develop complete construction-ready plan sets including grading, drainage, utility, erosion-control, and site-development plans.
• Perform and document design calculations and technical reports to substantiate design decisions and meet regulatory requirements.
• Manage projects independently from concept through construction closeout with limited oversight.
• Coordinate permitting activities, prepare permit applications, and respond to agency feedback.
• Communicate clearly with clients, agencies, and project stakeholders.
• Use Civil 3D or similar civil CAD platform in a hands-on production role.
• Monitor project schedules, deliverables, and client expectations to ensure on-time outcomes.
• Identify missing information and risks early and proactively develop solutions.
• Maintain organized project documentation and quality-control reviews.
• Work self-directed in a remote environment with reliable, high-quality output.
• Collaborate with land surveying professionals and incorporate survey data.
• Support proposals or client relationships as experience grows.
