Job summary

SLR Consulting (US) is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer in Agawam, MA to lead challenging civil and environmental projects and mentor staff. You will oversee planning, design, permitting, client management, and construction phase services, working with multidisciplinary teams across New England.

The role offers opportunity to drive business growth in the region, requires PE licensure and 8+ years of experience, and involves travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution.
• PE license required, preferably in Massachusetts, New York and Connecticut or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
• 8+ years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience.
• Strong experience with land development, site design, stormwater management, and civil infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering design software.
• Knowledge of Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut environmental and land-use regulations.
• Demonstrated project management experience, including budgeting and client management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering design and project delivery for residential, energy, industrial, commercial, and municipal projects.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including scope, schedule, budget, quality control, and client communication.
• Prepare and review engineering plans, technical specifications, reports, calculations, and permit applications.
• Oversee site development, grading, drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and utility design.
• Coordinate with environmental permitting teams to support federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and project staff.
• Manage subcontractors, contractors, and external consultants as needed.
• Conduct site visits and field investigations to support project planning and implementation.
• Participate in proposal development, business development initiatives, and client relationship management.
• Support construction administration activities, including submittal reviews, RFIs, site observations, and project closeout
• Build an office culture that supports staff opportunities to excel and grow our business
