Job summary

Prince William County Public Works, Environmental Management Division, seeks a Principal Engineer to conduct senior-level reviews of land development plans focusing on grading, erosion and sediment control, storm drainage, floodplain studies, and stormwater management.

The successful candidate will apply advanced engineering knowledge, communicate review requirements clearly to applicants and consultants, and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and three (3) years of related experience.
• Preference for a Civil Engineering degree with 3+ years of land development plan design/review experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform senior-level reviews of land development plans with focus on grading, erosion and sediment control, storm drainage, floodplain studies, and stormwater management.
• Apply advanced engineering knowledge to evaluate complex proposals and resolve technical issues.
• Communicate review requirements clearly to applicants, consultants, County staff and other stakeholders.
