Job summary

Fishbeck, based in Lansing, MI, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer Land Development to lead and support civil engineering projects from concept through construction. You will work with a multidisciplinary team and clients on land development initiatives.

The role emphasizes leadership, regulatory compliance, and collaboration, with opportunities for hybrid schedules and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Michigan or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Approximately 10 years of civil/site design experience.
• Experience with university or institutional campus projects.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
• Experience with stormwater modeling software (HydroCAD, SWMM).
• Familiarity with LEED or sustainable site design practices.
• Knowledge of permitting processes in Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and permitting of land development projects, with a focus on university and institutional campuses.
• Prepare site layout, grading, stormwater management, utility, and erosion control plans.
• Coordinate with internal teams (survey, environmental, structural, architectural) and external stakeholders.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance.
• Attend client meetings, site visits, and public hearings as needed.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
