Job summary

City and County of Honolulu seeks a Civil Engineer V to supervise and participate in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of civil projects. The role involves leading surveys and overseeing design work on reservoirs, bridges, pipelines, and more.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, one year of professional civil engineering experience, and Hawaii licensure prior to appointment; driver license may be required.

Qualifications

• One year of registered professional civil engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty.
• Must possess Hawaii professional Civil Engineer license prior to appointment or obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Supervising preliminary and final surveys.
• Designing structures such as reservoirs, retaining walls, bridges, culverts, tunnels, pipelines, sewers, sidewalks, highways, etc.
• Assigning subordinate engineers and inspectors to construction projects.
• Settling disputes between contractors and inspectors.
• Approving construction changes.
