Job summary

The City and County of Honolulu invites applications for a Civil Engineer V to lead and participate in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of civil engineering projects across multiple departments.

Responsibilities include supervising surveys, designing major structures, coordinating with inspectors and contractors, and approving changes while ensuring safety and compliance. Salary is commensurate with experience, with comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• One year of registered professional civil engineering experience.
• Possession of Hawaii professional Civil Engineer license or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Supervise preliminary and final surveys.
• Design structures such as reservoirs, retaining walls, bridges, culverts, tunnels, pipelines, sewers, sidewalks and highways.
• Assign subordinate engineers and inspectors to construction projects.
• Settle disputes between contractors and inspectors.
• Approve construction changes.
