Job summary

Abonmarche is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer in our Kalamazoo, MI office. The role directs the project design team, manages schedules, coordinates with permitting agencies, and supports proposal development on municipal, roadway, and site-design projects.

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, a Michigan PE license, 5+ years civil engineering experience, and strong communication skills. CAD/Civil 3D and MS Office proficiency preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Michigan required.
• 5+ years of experience in civil engineering.
• Experience as a project engineer on municipal, roadway, sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer, trails, traffic signals, or site design projects.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently or with a team.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Microsoft Office programs.

Responsibilities

• Directs and manages the project design team and coordinates schedules with project managers and supervisors to meet deadlines.
• Assists in proposal preparation or project scope including feasibility cost estimates.
• Reviews project work at milestones and follows quality control plan.
• Coordinates with permitting agencies.
• Directs and reviews permit applications, specifications, bids, cost estimates, and reports.
• Coordinates with Geotech or other technical subs and communicates with contractor as needed.
• Determines team roles for construction administration and performs spot field checks during construction.
• Coordinates continuing education opportunities for technical staff.
• Mentors and trains junior staff.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Michigan
• 5+ years of experience in civil engineering
• Experience in a project engineer role for any of the following types of projects is preferred: municipal, roadway design, sanitary sewers, water mains, storm sewers, trails, traffic signals, site design for residential, commercial, educational and industrial projects
• Self-motivated and able to work independently or with a team
• Good verbal and written skills
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Microsoft Suite programs
