The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to lead design management for civil capital projects and to coordinate with city agencies on road and utility work.   • Minimum of Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited engineering program.

Responsibilities

  • Design management: evaluate actions and make independent decisions on significant matters within scope.
  • Develop program statements and programs for assigned civil capital projects.
  • Evaluate proposals from consultants and participate in the selection process for civil capital projects.
  • Prepare and implement contracts for engaging professional consultant firms to develop and document projects.
  • Direct activities of engineers and other professionals for planning, programming and design of civil capital projects.
  • Conduct project meetings; responsible for project tracking and analysis.
  • Maintain high quality standards in civil engineering and manage the design process.
  • Prepare graphics and narrative reports for assigned projects and present them.
  • Coordinate with City on road/utility projects, ROW and permits; assist MDOT interface and review design standards.
  • Support City of Ann Arbor submittal and approval process for projects.
  • Understand ADA and PROWAG guidelines and apply to sidewalks, ramps, and pedestrian facilities.
  • Advise colleagues, clients, and administrators on civil design and construction.
  • Review civil and campus plans for regulatory compliance.
