Job summary

Kimley-Horn’s Phoenix office is seeking a Civil Designer with 6+ years of experience to join the Water/Wastewater team. You will implement drafting standards, develop technical drawings, and supervise CAD staff while ensuring quality and schedule alignment.

The role requires strong engineering knowledge, mentoring capabilities, and the ability to work independently in a collaborative team environment. Opportunity to advance within a leading civil engineering firm.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent (associates degree preferred).
• Ability to set up and manage printing/plotting settings.
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products.
• Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Willingness to mentor and teach others.
• Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter.

Responsibilities

• Implement and manage drafting and plan preparation standards.
• Develop technical drawings and plans.
• Make and quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity; may perform some multifaceted calculations.
• Require minimal supervision to perform day-to-day tasks.
• Have knowledge of engineering principles and suggest design changes.
• Maintain drawing database.
• Supervise and train CAD staff.
• Coordinate work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control.
• Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards.
