Job summary

Bohler’s Herndon, VA office is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer ready to lead technical design challenges across site development projects in the Herndon area. You’ll own grading, drainage, utilities, and permitting while ensuring quality, constructability, and compliance.

You’ll mentor junior engineers and collaborate with clients and regulators. The role emphasizes design leadership, project coordination, and hands-on exposure from concept through construction, with relocation support

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
• 5+ years of land development design and permitting experience.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software.
• Knowledge of local zoning, permitting, and construction requirements.
• EIT required or in progress; PE license beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design and review grading, drainage, and utility plans for complex sites.
• Conduct zoning research and site feasibility analyses.
• Support project coordination with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Review design deliverables for accuracy, quality, and compliance.
• Collaborate with and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Perform hydrology, stormwater, and earthwork calculations using AutoCAD Civil 3D and design software.
• Contribute to project budgeting, workload planning, and task coordination.
