Job summary

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) CID seeks a Special Agent under the CPS/REHIRE program for experienced retired officers. The role focuses on multi-jurisdictional investigations, covert operations, and management of sensitive casework within Texas.

Preference given to those who previously served in CID and hold a TCLEOSE Intermediate Certificate. The position requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to work with diverse agencies and jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Must be a retired commissioned officer who has retired from the Employees Retirement System of Texas and whose last position was as a commissioned officer within the department and attained the rank of Sergeant or higher with CID.
• Valid Texas driver license and an Intermediate Certificate issued by TCLEOSE.

Responsibilities

• Brief command staff on case management matters, policies and CID activities.
• Conduct, manage, and coordinate complex multi-jurisdictional investigations.
• Manage background investigations for the agency.
• Develop and disseminate intelligence related to criminal activity.
• Assist with evidence evaluation and preserving evidence for legal proceedings.
• Conduct covert surveillance operations and infiltrate criminal organizations.
