Job summary
The Building People is seeking a Chief Engineer to supervise and optimize building systems across a multi-facility portfolio in Laredo, Texas. You will train journeyman and apprentice personnel, oversee preventive maintenance, and coordinate repairs with subcontractors to keep HVAC, boilers, chillers, pumps, and controls operating safely and efficiently.
You will read contract specs, manage energy performance initiatives, and ensure reliability while maintaining tenant comfort.
Qualifications
- Verifiable experience operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing building systems and equipment.
- Experience in chiller, boiler, and pump repair with related components.
- Skills in preventive maintenance planning and execution.
- Ability to read contract specs and drawings.
- Proficiency with CMMS for work orders, assets, and reporting.
- Fully conversant in English (speaking, writing, reading).
Responsibilities
- Lead operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building systems across multiple facilities.
- Train journeyman and apprentice personnel; supervise teams daily.
- Oversee preventive maintenance program and energy-related assessments.
- Coordinate repairs with subcontractors; ensure safe, reliable operation of HVAC, boilers, pumps, controls.
- Inspect common areas; enforce safety and drive continuous improvement in comfort and energy performance.
