Ultima Genomics is seeking a Senior Research Associate, Chemistry for our Process Chemistry team in Fremont, CA. This onsite contracting role operates on a Fri-Mon 4x10 schedule after training, focusing on producing high-quality chemical intermediates and final compounds.

Qualifications

• MS in Chemistry with 4+ years of hands-on industrial experience, or BS with 5+ years in organic/process chemistry.
• Ability to perform small-molecule organic chemistry reactions and contribute to improving production processes.
• Collaborative team player who communicates well across cross-functional teams.
• Meticulous, detail oriented, motivated to learn, and able to document work.
• Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor chemical production equipment to manufacture intermediates and final compounds per SOPs and batch records.
• Scale-up production of organic intermediates and purification using prep-LC, ion exchange, flash chromatography, and rotary evaporation.
• Maintain in-process testing and analysis using HPLC, UV, LCMS, pH meter, and fluorometer.
• Assist with maintenance of shared lab equipment and calibration/upkeep of instruments.
• Assist with updating/writing new SOPs and present weekly at chemistry meetings.
• Participate in ongoing training to develop technical skills and understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Adhere to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements including OSHA and ISO standards.
• Manage chemical inventory and support other teams as needed.
