Placements24 is seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to lead design, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes for our client in Mexico City. The role emphasizes safety, sustainability, and cost reduction while guiding cross-functional teams in a remote-friendly environment.

You will mentor junior engineers, develop process control strategies, and evaluate new technologies through feasibility studies and pilot trials to advance operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• PhD is a plus.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in chemical process design, optimization, and scale-up.
• Strong knowledge of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and separation processes.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis tools.
• Experience with process safety management (PSM) and HAZOP studies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong project management abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment.
• Proficiency in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize existing chemical processes to improve yield, efficiency, and reduce operational costs.
• Design and scale-up new chemical processes, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and economic viability.
• Develop and implement process control strategies to maintain optimal operating conditions.
• Conduct feasibility studies and pilot plant trials for new process technologies.
• Troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective actions to ensure smooth operations.
• Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality assurance teams to integrate process improvements.
• Ensure adherence to all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and present findings to management.
• Mentor junior chemical engineers and provide technical guidance.
