Mercor is seeking a Senior Character Animator for a remote, contract position. You will define standards for body mechanics, facial nuance, timing, and emotional intent, and review performances with precise notes.

Candidates must have 10+ years’ experience with credits on feature films, VFX, or AAA game cinematics. Some in-person sessions may be required in Playa Vista, CA or New York, NY.

Qualifications

• 10+ years as a character animator focused on human and character acting.
• Animator credits on feature films, VFX features, or AAA game cinematics at recognized studios.
• Strong eye for micro expressions, lip sync, weight, and timing.
• Ability to work on-site in Playa Vista, CA or New York, NY for in-person sessions.
• Strong written communication skills for evaluation templates.

Responsibilities

• Define clear standards for performance transfer in body mechanics , facial nuance , timing , and emotional intent .
• Review generated performances and provide precise, actionable notes.
• Develop benchmarks with reference performances to test model accuracy.
• Shape the reviewer pool by defining profiles, rubrics, and calibration for human reviewers.
• Collaborate with other experts to ensure consistent and accurate evaluations.
