Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections invites applications for a Senior Chaplain-F/C at Lake Correctional Institution. This full-time Career Service role leads the Chaplaincy Department, coordinating worship, pastoral counseling, and educational programs for inmates, staff, and families.

It requires ordination and a bachelor’s degree in theology or related field, plus experience in clergy leadership. The successful candidate will train staff and volunteers, ensure inclusive, bias-free services,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in theology/religion/education or four years of clergy experience.
Ordination or formal investment with ministerial or priestly authority.
Current written approbation and endorsement from ecclesiastical body.

Responsibilities

Lead chaplaincy staff and volunteers with training and guidance, ensuring inclusivity and compliance with laws/policies.
Plan, develop, schedule, and supervise worship, religious education, and special events.
Provide pastoral care to inmates through interviews and crisis support.
Manage scheduling, volunteer coordination, inmate requests, and respond to grievances.
Recruit, train, and supervise citizen volunteers; maintain volunteer records.
