Job summary
Seagate Technology in Longmont, CO seeks a Channel Development Sr. Staff Engineer to lead advanced channel architectures and testing for HAMR-enabled drives. You will design, evaluate, and optimize channel technologies, mentor teams, and contribute to IP while working hands-on in bench and lab settings.
We value a strong background in communications, signal processing, and programming (Cuda/C++, Python). The role offers collaboration across engineering groups and a path to impact product
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 12+ years of experience or masters/PhD with 8+ years of experience.
- Experience in channel design, signal processing, and high-speed data systems.
- Proven leadership and collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Design channel-enabled architectures and technology bundles for gains in capacity, performance, and reliability.
- Identify channel detection technologies for current physical recording channels.
- Develop techniques to adapt to future HAMR channel changes and optimize detection.
- Collaborate with channel vendors to evaluate new channel technologies.
- Bench test with drive mules to demonstrate feasibility of new channel technologies.
- Contribute to IP portfolio via patents, papers, and disclosures.
