In accordance with state and federal regulations, assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in other Pharmacy Department duties following Company policies and procedures.
Responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assists and coaches pharmacy technicians in operating pharmacy systems and cashiers in operating the pharmacy cash registers.

Job Responsibilities/Tasks
Customer Experience
- Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Models and shares customer service best practices with team members to deliver a distinctive experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
- Develops strong relationships with valuable customers.
Operations
- Under supervision of the pharmacist, assist in pharmacy practice, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
- Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicines, and assisting with scheduling.
- Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to policies regarding pharmacy errors and quality improvement.
- Follow Good Faith Dispensing policies during prescription activities.
- Register sales, handle cash, and assist customers in locating products.
- Handle non-urgent telephone calls, including those to physicians.
- Process manual claims for third-party prescriptions and perform clerical duties as assigned.
- Support inventory management activities and maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques.
- Assist in clinical services, including sample collection and coordination with healthcare providers.
- Develop relationships with the medical community through outreach and detailing.
- Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the Pharmacy Department.
- Comply with all policies and complete other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through training and continuing education.
- Attend training, complete required courses, and stay updated on healthcare developments.
Basic Qualifications
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (excluding Puerto Rico)
- One year of pharmacy technician experience in retail or hospital setting
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior Walgreens experience
- Good math skills
- Basic PC skills
- Knowledge of store inventory control
