Job description

In accordance with state and federal regulations, assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in other Pharmacy Department duties following Company policies and procedures.

Uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assists and coaches pharmacy technicians and cashiers in pharmacy systems and cash register operations.

Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

Job Responsibilities/Tasks

1. Customer Experience
   • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance, resolving issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive experience.
   • Shares customer service best practices with team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
   • Develops strong relationships with valuable customers.
2. Operations
   • Under pharmacist supervision, assists in pharmacy practice, complying with all regulations and policies.
   • Performs assigned duties such as entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicines, and assisting with workflow scheduling.
   • Reports prescription errors immediately and adheres to error and quality policies.
   • Handles sales registration and cash handling, assists customers in locating products, and manages telephone inquiries.
   • Processes claims for third-party prescriptions and supports inventory management activities.
   • May assist in clinical services, including sample collection and coordination with healthcare providers.
   • Builds relationships with the medical community through outreach and detailing.
   • Maintains pharmacy cleanliness and supplies, and ensures compliance with policies.
   • Completes other tasks as assigned.
3. Training & Personal Development
   • Maintains PTCB certification and completes required training and continuing education.
   • Requires at least one year of pharmacy technician experience in retail or hospital settings.
   • Fluent in English (except in Puerto Rico), willing to work flexible hours, and preferably experienced with Walgreens and basic PC skills.
