Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA seeks a Senior Certified Medical Assistant to provide professional nursing and patient care in outpatient settings. Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Clinical experience: 3 years.
• Licensure: BLS Health Care Provider certification.
• CMA certification through recognized national association (AAMA/AMT/NAHP/ARMA/NHA).
• EMT or Paramedic certification as required by Virginia requirements.

Responsibilities

• Communicate patient status and changes in patient condition to RN and/or LIP.
• Assist RN/LIP in clinic operations and maintain communication with team, providers, and patients.
• Assist with data collection, documentation, and rooming.
• Provide clinical support during examinations and procedures per competencies.
• Perform specimen collection, testing (POC, ECG, spirometry, venipuncture), sterilization, and wound care.
• Prioritize and organize patient care activities with the team.
• Reinforce patient education and health instruction.
• Maintain supplies and equipment, and document charges for services.
• Provide administrative support ( drafting letters, scheduling, refills, chart prep).
• Demonstrate teamwork and attend to time-sensitive issues.
