Job summary

Alcoa seeks a Senior Materials Development Engineer for the ELYSIS program at the New Kensington, PA site. You will lead ceramic materials R&D, coordinate projects, and guide equipment/process design to minimize scale-up risk as the team advances the ELYSIS technology.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years in ceramic materials, strong data analysis, and proven collaboration in fast-paced environments. Onsite role with opportunities to influence sustainable aluminum production.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of relevant work experience in ceramic materials or processes preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ceramic sintering and processing equipment.
• Proven project execution and management skills.
• Excellent data management and results presentation abilities.
• Collaborative, results-driven, fast-paced team experience welcome.

Responsibilities

• Lead R&D efforts for ceramic electrode materials for ELYSIS technology.
• Develop work plans, objectives and schedules for projects.
• Provide data-based guidance for equipment and process design to reduce industrialization risk.
• Support technical specifications for materials and equipment sets.
• Communicate progress via detailed reports, presentations and publications.
• Manage vendor, service provider, or institution relationships and budgets.
