Job summary

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, Inc. is seeking a Recreation Coordinator to manage educational and recreational activities for the Older Adult Center.

You will plan and schedule programs, coordinate volunteers, create newsletters, and engage seniors through in-person and digital activities. The role requires experience in senior centers, bilingual skills, and ability to travel for meetings and trainings.

Qualifications

• BA Degree in Social Services or related field or HS Diploma with 2 years’ experience.
• Experience in working in a senior center or older adult facility.
• Bilingual English/Spanish, English/Russian, English/Chinese, English/Polish preferred.
• Ability to travel to different locations to attend meetings and trainings.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and oversee the day-to-day activities of the education and recreation programs of the Older Adult Center.
• Produce monthly newsletters and develop flyers.
• Make announcements daily to seniors regarding upcoming events and activities.
• Initiate and maintain linkages with resources and partners to ensure a diverse range of activities.
• Assess activities and ensure data is collected and analyzed.
• Participate in outreach to advertise activities at the center.
• Develop engaging activities including virtual presentations and social media.
• Lead discussion groups and teach computer basics for beginners.
• Provide support in data entry and reporting using databases.
• Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate volunteers and interns fluent in target languages.
• Attend trainings for DFTA evidence-based workshops and implement them at the center.
