Job summary

Harford County MD seeks a program director to lead a multipurpose senior activity center, coordinating health, education, recreation, and nutrition programs. This role reports to the Senior Center Division Manager across four rotation locations and requires hands-on leadership of staff and volunteers.

The ideal candidate will have an AA degree in a related field or equivalent experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage records, meals, and community partnerships.

Qualifications

• AA degree in gerontology, psychology, recreation, or related field with 1 year of human services experience
• High school diploma or GED plus 2 years of human services or public-facing customer service experience
• Valid Class C non-commercial driver's license with no more than 3 points
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and be physically active
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

• Support daily operations of a senior activity center including planning and coordinating activities
• Assist with meal service and class/event registrations
• Provide information about programs to seniors and the public
• Respond to inquiries and refer to other Office on Aging programs as needed
• Maintain records and data entry for nutrition and health reports
• Supervise staff and volunteers at the center
• Recruit and motivate volunteers and staff
• Set up and manage meal service and related tasks
• Attend meetings and cover other centers as needed
• Liaise with committees and community organizations
