Senior Center Program Manager

SCOPE, Bristol

Shift Worker, 12 Hours/Week

$11.00/Hour

Schedule: Determined on a case by case basis

General Statement of Duties

Responsible for providing leadership in assigned county for the Senior Service Center as well as serving as an advocate on a one-to-one basis for area seniors.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Responds to day to day needs of seniors such as providing referral sources, coordinating activities, explaining Medicare issues, etc.
  • Provides information over the telephone regarding referrals, registration for activities, etc.
  • Supervises and assigns work to Mature Services worker.
  • Recruiting volunteers to work in the Center.
  • Networks with other senior centers and organizations.
  • Setting up machinery, purchasing and arranging prizes, collecting donations for bingo.
  • Writing a column called “senior life” and preparing joint activity schedule for the publishing local newspaper.
  • Conducting and scheduling weekly craft sessions, exercise activities, art classes for seniors, as well as arranging for instructors.
  • Accounts for money earned and makes deposits to appropriate accounts.
  • Conducts fund-raising activities for center.
  • Maintains equipment.
  • Monitors cleanliness of Center.
  • Scheduling of the bus trips, networking with appropriate entities to make reservations and acquire pricing, accounts for all money dealing with bus trips.
  • Coordinating Farmer’s market coupon give away.
  • Coordinating annual senior celebration, to honor local seniors.
  • Community involvement, quarterly meetings with Area Agency on Aging and Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP).
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Ability to work effectively with seniors.
  • Ability to work as a team member, model open communication, fair and equitable treatment, and manage conflicts.
  • Experience in effectively utilizing community resources.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid Ohio Driver’s License and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability if applicable.
  • Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation).
Minimum Educational/License Requirements

Bachelor's degree in human services field preferred.

Minimum Experience Requirements

Experience working with senior citizens preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to hear and talk on the phone and/or face to face interaction required. Must have good vision for close work. Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to travel to provide services in other offices and locations to meet client and agency needs.
