Job summary

FSL Programs in Peoria, AZ is seeking a Cook to oversee meal preparation for congregate and home-delivered services. You will manage a team, ensure portion control, sanitation, and adherence to nutrition standards while planning menus and ordering supplies.

The role requires 3 years of relevant cooking experience, an associates degree or equivalent, and certifications such as Safe Serv and CPR/First Aid. This is a full-time, on-site position with opportunities to impact senior dining programs.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in nutrition or food services, or equivalent experience.
• Three years’ experience in planning, preparation and serving of large quantities of food.
• Knowledge of handling, preparation and cooking for 100-150 meals.
• Knowledge of nutritional requirements for seniors.
• Knowledge of sanitation requirements, standards and procedures.
• Ability to read and follow approved recipes and menus.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with older adults, adults with physical disabilities, and adults experiencing mental health issues.
• Safe Serv Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of position entry.
• Valid unrestricted driver license and be insurable by AllThrive 365.
• CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of position entry.
• Fingerprint background screening and comprehensive background clearance.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Assists the senior center meal program reach contractual objectives and goals.
• Complies with AllThrive 365 policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Supervises Assistant Cook and volunteers in preparation and serving of meals, ensuring portions, temperature, and sanitation standards.
• Plans a six-week menu cycle in accordance with nutrition standards.
• Purchases food items and supplies, and stores items to maintain quality and accessibility.
• Performs periodic participant surveys to aid menu planning and quality.
• Supervises kitchen equipment operation and sanitation compliance.
• Supervises and trains Assistant Cook, volunteers and temporary helpers.
• Supervises kitchen cleaning to meet sanitation requirements.
• Assists with special programs conducted by staff or volunteers.
• Other duties as assigned.
