Job summary

City of Westerville is seeking a part-time Senior Center Chef/Kitchen Manager to plan and prepare meals for seniors, manage a busy kitchen, and supervise volunteers and staff. The role requires coordinating menus, ensuring nutritional needs are met, and maintaining sanitation standards in a community kitchen.

Qualifications

• CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• ServSafe Level 2 Certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficient with Google Workspace (email, Docs) and online ordering systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily kitchen activities to plan and prepare quality meals for Senior Center members.
• Plan lunches for 120-150 people on Wednesdays and Fridays and other meals for events.
• Coordinate Pancake Breakfast and other special events (e.g., first Wednesday of the month, 6am–10am).
• Determine food presentation and production lines to ensure meals are served on time.
• Handle purchases and requisitions, manage kitchen inventory, and maintain storage areas.
• Train and supervise kitchen staff and volunteers; establish efficient schedules.
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation per health standards; monitor equipment maintenance.
• Communicate with front-of-house staff to enhance customer service; maintain safety programs.
