Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer / Project Administrator to lead CEI services on FDOT and local transportation projects across Florida. You will manage contracts, oversee construction, ensure QA/QC, coordinate with agencies and stakeholders, and mentor CEI staff from notice to proceed to final acceptance.

The role requires a PE license in Florida or imminent eligibility, plus 5+ years of FDOT/CEI experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Florida P.E. license or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• Minimum 5+ years of FDOT/CEI experience.
• Experience leading CEI teams and managing multiple projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and client management skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel statewide.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Senior CEI Project Engineer and Project Administrator on transportation projects.
• Manage project delivery, schedules, budgets, documentation, and staff assignments.
• Coordinate with FDOT, local agencies, municipalities, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with contract plans, specs, permits, standards, and agency requirements.
• Review pay apps, change orders, claims, RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
• Lead progress meetings and prepare project correspondence and reports.
• Oversee QA/QC activities performed by CEI staff.
• Verify quantities, testing, and contractor performance.
• Monitor project schedules and manage risks and delays.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to inspectors and staff.
• Coordinate project closeout and as-built documentation.
