Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC. is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer / Project Administrator to lead Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services on FDOT, LAP, county, and municipal transportation projects across Florida.

You will manage project delivery, contract administration, construction oversight, and mentoring CEI staff, serving as the primary liaison with owners, contractors, and project teams. The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, a Florida P.E.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Florida P.E. license required or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• Minimum 5+ years of FDOT and/or Florida CEI experience.
• Experience in a CEI leadership role (Project Administrator/Engineer/Senior Inspector).
• Thorough understanding of FDOT specifications and construction documentation.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and client management skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Senior CEI Project Engineer and Project Administrator on transportation construction projects.
• Manage project delivery, schedules, budgets, documentation, and staff assignments.
• Coordinate with FDOT, local agencies, municipalities, contractors, and utilities.
• Ensure compliance with plans, permits, standards, and agency requirements.
• Review pay applications, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
• Lead progress meetings and prepare project correspondence and reports.
• Oversee QA/QC activities performed by CEI staff.
• Verify quantities, materials testing, and contractor performance.
• Monitor project schedules and identify risks and constructability issues.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to inspectors and staff.
• Coordinate closeout activities, final acceptance, and as-built documentation.
