Job summary

Luster National, Inc. is seeking a Senior CEI Inspector to provide construction, engineering, and inspection services for transportation projects in Georgia.

The role involves advanced inspection work, materials sampling, and directing field staff across a 16-mile corridor north of Atlanta along SR 400. The position is long-term, full-time and on-site, with responsibilities including complex inspections, contract administration, meetings, and supervision.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 4+ years of progressive transportation technician experience with a State Highway Agency or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of highway construction materials, methods and equipment.
  • Strong math skills including algebra, geometry and trigonometry related to highway engineering.
  • Proficiency with office equipment and MS Office.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, contracts and inspection procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent complex inspections and supervise lower-level inspectors.
  • Perform contract administration duties and field measurements of pay items.
  • Participate in Field Plan Reviews, CPM schedule reviews, and project close-out activities.
  • Possibly perform project engineering duties on smaller projects (<$10,000,000).
  • Manage administration, inspection, and coordination of local let projects.
  • Attend meetings related to project administration and coordination.
  • Ensure municipalities comply with LAP processes to close out projects.
  • Verify invoiced work and manage funding allocations across project phases.

Position Title: Senior CEI Inspector

About the Positions

Were seeking a Senior CEI Inspector who will provide Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) services for transportation projects located in the state of Georgia. This is advanced level technical work supporting engineers in functional areas of structure and roadway construction inspection; materials sampling, inspection and testing. Work usually involves a fairly wide range of decision making and use of judgment and may include providing work direction to others.

This is a long-term, full-time, onsite position. The initial primary location will be a 16-mile corridor north of Atlanta, running along SR 400 from the MARTA North Springs Station (Exit 5C) in Fulton County up to just north of McFarland Parkway (Exit 12) in Forsyth County. The exact position location may change.

Responsibilities

may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Will conduct independent complex inspections and supervising lower-level inspectors performing routine to moderately complex inspections of roadway and structure construction processes and materials to ensure compliance with construction contracts.
  • May perform contract administration duties, including field measurements of pay items and completion of Department-required documentation.
  • Work may include participating in Concept Meetings, Field Plan Reviews (Preliminary and/or Final), CPM schedule reviews, project close-out activities, and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • May perform project engineering duties in lieu of the Project Engineer on smaller construction projects with construction let amounts less than $10,000,000.
  • Maybe responsible for the administration, inspection, and management of local let projects once assigned to Construction.
  • Will attend meetings associated with project administration and coordination.
  • Will ensure local municipalities remain in compliance with LAP processes to effectively close out projects upon completion.
  • Will verify invoiced work for satisfactory completion and ensure project funding allocations are appropriately managed across project phases.

MinimumRequirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 4+ years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency, or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
  • Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry related to highway and transportation engineering.
  • Skill in the use of office equipment such as calculators and computers.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to take notes and prepare or review reports.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of lower-level employees.
  • Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Georgia Law.
  • Proficiency with computers (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, internet, etc.).
Required Certifications

Please Note: For titles containing GDOT certifications or passing scores on Engineering Skills Development Tests, certifications and passing scores must be obtained within six (6) months of beginning work on the GDOT project. Certifications from other agencies or states may possibly be substituted.

  • GDOT WECS.
  • GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
  • GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control).
  • Passing scores on GDOTs Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests Group 3 (Earthwork, Bridges, Incidental Items).
Compensation Details

Expected Salary: $72k-$85k/year ($35-$41/hour). Luster provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might offer for this position based on the successful candidates level of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, geographic location, etc. Luster reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range depending on circumstances not related to any status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
