Job summary

Luster National seeks CEI Inspector I professionals to deliver Construction, Engineering, and Inspection services for transportation projects across Sandy Springs, Roswell, Johns Creek, and nearby Georgia areas. This role supports higher inspectors and engineers on highway/bridge construction inspections.

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • 1.5+ years’ experience as a CEI Inspector.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to take notes and prepare or review reports.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent complex inspections of roadways and structures to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Supervise inspectors conducting routine inspections; inspect asphalt and concrete materials and pavement processes.
  • Inspect roadways, structures, and traffic control for conformance to plans and specs.
  • Possibly perform more complex calculations and computations.
  • Prepare field measurements and other required contract documentation.

About the Positions

We’re seeking CEI Inspector I professionals who will provide Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) services for transportation projects located in the areas of Sandy Springs, Roswell, Johns Creek, Mableton, Alpharetta, Marietta, and Smyrna (Cobb and North Fulton counties), Georgia. This position may support higher level inspectors and engineers on assignments relating to highway and bridge construction inspection. Work is generally performed under technical and administrative supervision and may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

This post targets various counties in the state of Georgia. Training materials will be provided to obtain the required certifications.

Responsibilities
  • Will perform independent complex inspections of roadways and structures, construction processes, and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract.
  • Will perform moderately complex inspections or supervise other inspectors conducting routine and standardized inspections.
  • Work includes inspecting asphalt and concrete for acceptable materials and mix; pavement for proper spreading, rolling, depth, alignment and compaction; roadways and structures for conformance to plans, and specifications; structural materials and members; placement of culverts; structural operations such as foundation excavation; placement of piling, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete and backfill; and traffic control and erosion control devices.
  • May also perform a more complex variety of calculations and computations.
  • Will perform contract documentation duties, which include field measurements of pay items as well as other Department required documentation.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1.5+ years’ experience working as a CEI Inspector.
  • Considerable knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
  • Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions, including geometry.
  • Skill in the use of office equipment such as calculators and computers.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain such things as construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to take notes and prepare or review reports.
  • Ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods.
  • Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Georgia Law.
  • Proficiency with computers (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, internet, etc.).
Required Certifications
  • GDOT WECS.
  • GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
  • GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control).
  • Passing scores on GDOT’s Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests – Group 1 (General Provisions, Auxiliary Items, Basic Highway Math, Basic Highway Plan Reading).
  • Passing scores on GDOT’s Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests – Group 2 (Pavements, Bases, Subbases, Minor Drainage Structures, Construction Erosion Control).
Compensation Details

Expected Salary: $52k-$62k/year ($25-$30/hour). Luster provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might offer for this position based on the successful candidate’s level of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, geographic location, etc. Luster reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range depending on circumstances not related to any status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
