About the Positions

We’reseeking CEI Inspector II professionals who will provide Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) services for transportation projects located in the state of Georgia. This is intermediate level technical work supporting higher level inspectors and engineers in functional areas such as construction inspection and surveying; scheduling and status; roadway design; traffic signal equipment; traffic signalization and geometrics; materials sampling; inspection and testing. Work usually involves a significant amount of decision making and use of judgment and may include providing work direction to others.

This post targets various counties in the state of Georgia. Training materials will be provided to obtain the required certifications.

Responsibilities
  • May perform project engineering duties in lieu of the Project Engineer on smaller construction projects.
  • Will perform independent complex inspections of roadways and structure construction processes and materials to ensure compliance with the construction contract.
  • Will perform moderately complex inspections or supervise other inspectors conducting routine and standardized inspections.
  • Work includes inspecting asphalt and concrete for acceptable materials and mix; pavement for proper spreading, rolling, depth, alignment and compaction; roadways and structures for conformance to plans and specifications; structural materials and members; placement of culverts; structural operations such as foundation excavation; placement of piling, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete and backfill; and traffic control and erosion control devices.
  • May also perform a more complex variety of calculations and computations.
  • Will perform contract documentation duties, which include field measurements of pay items as well as other Department required documentation.
  • Work may include participating in Concept Meetings, Field Plan Reviews (Preliminary and/or Final), CPM schedule reviews, project close-out, and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency, or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
  • Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions, including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Drafting skill and skill in the use of office equipment such as calculators and computers.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to take notes and prepare or review reports.
  • Ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods.
  • Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Georgia Law.
  • Proficiency with computers (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, internet, etc.).
Required Certifications

Please Note: For titles containing GDOT certifications or passing scores on Engineering Skills Development Tests, certifications and passing scores must be obtained within six (6) months of beginning work on the GDOT project. Certifications from other agencies or states may possibly be substituted.

  • GDOT WECS.
  • GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
  • GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control).
  • Passing scores on GDOT’s Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests – Group 1 (General Provisions, Auxiliary Items, Basic Highway Math, Basic Highway Plan Reading).
  • Passing scores on GDOT’s Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests – Group 2 (Pavements, Bases, Subbases, Minor Drainage Structures, Construction Erosion Control).
Compensation Details

Expected Salary: $52k-$73k/year ($25-$35/hour). Luster provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might offer for this position based on the successful candidate’s level of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, geographic location, etc. Luster reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range depending on circumstances not related to any status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
