Job summary

CDM Smith’s Transportation Construction team seeks a field inspector to inspect and monitor highway construction at project sites. The role requires reading and interpreting plans, ensuring adherence to specifications, and communicating results to leadership.

Travel to multiple project locations is required. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver's license, and 12 years of related experience; ACI or NICET certifications may be required by the client.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; related experience considered in lieu of degree.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or national entities (ACI/NICET) may be required by client/jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to ensure materials and processes meet plans and specifications.
• Uses high-grade equipment and performs complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under limited or direct supervision depending on knowledge and assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspections.
• Document results and communicate findings to supervisor.
