Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker in Valley City, OH is seeking a Lead Category Manager for Purchase Components. The hybrid role combines strategic sourcing, supplier management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive efficiency and value for our brands.

You will negotiate contracts, develop global purchasing strategies for components in Sub-Con, Tires & Rims, Paint, Rubber, Belts, and lead projects to improve productivity and working capital.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of 3 years of strategic sourcing experience including supplier selection, supplier management, contract negotiations.
• Minimum 3 years of category strategy or material field strategy experience.
• Knowledge of procurement and sourcing techniques and strategies, supplier integration, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Has special knowledge in the relevant areas of responsibility, ideally in outdoor equipment and/or power tools.
• Proven track record of developing and executing successful YOY productivity projects.
• Computer skills (MS Office).
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
• Effective leadership & facilitation skills demonstrated.
• Ability to work in a matrixed environment, managing multiple and, often times, conflicting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead supplier relationships and assist in negotiations.
• Deliver Year over Year productivity & working capital goals.
• Work with Businesses/Plants to achieve annual productivity and working capital targets.
• Work closely with all functions to formulate, implement and execute sourcing and continuous improvement strategies.
• Strategic Supplier Management: Analysis and observation of the procurement markets and trade fair visits to identify potential sources.
• Material Field Strategy: Creation of global purchasing strategies for Sub-Con, Tires & Rims, Paint, Rubber, Belts.
• Negotiations and Contracts: Negotiate, implement and manage supplier contracts and SLAs.
• Executive of tenders/benchmarks: Carry out price comparisons to optimize procurement, including price/value analysis and substitutions.
• Supplier Development: Institute world class procurement and sourcing processes including supplier scorecards.
• Implementation of Projects: Planning and implementation of projects including parts of large-scale projects.
