Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora is seeking a Senior Category Management Specialist for Capital Sourcing. This regular, salaried role blends strategic sourcing events with supplier management to support capital investments.

Hybrid work arrangement (60% in office, 40% remote) with occasional travel to other campuses; duties include leading negotiations, developing RFPs/RFIs, and building partnerships with GPOs and hospital partners to meet capital cost targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field is required.
  • Minimum 7 years of category management, contract administration and/or purchasing experience.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, one year of related professional experience will serve as an equivalency to one year of education.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, coach and advise other Category Management Specialists.
  • Develops and implements ongoing process improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Subject matter expert for management of audits for large, complex contracts which can fall in any of the categories but requires one to overcome challenges of understanding, administering, and enforcing.
  • Consults, develops, leads and evaluates plans and conducts analysis of financial operational, clinical or administrative projects in collaboration with management.
  • Develops validates, and propagates Policies and Procedures based on the overall strategic goals and vision of the organization.
  • Builds and maximizes strategic partnerships with group purchasing organizations and local/regional hospital partners.
  • Develops proposals and recommendations based on analysis of spend patterns, identifying opportunities to reduce or eliminate cost and/or operational variance and advances strategies to capitalizes on such opportunities.
  • Identifies and secures supply sources and performs other category management activities involving the purchase, distribution, and analysis of present/future needs of materials, equipment, supplies and services.
  • Leads and develops strategy used in contract negotiation and finalizes contracts that meet CHCO contract standards and cost targets.
  • Accountable for developing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFI), issuing purchase orders.
  • Analyzes and continually monitors emerging trends and marketplace developments and integrates changes into sourcing strategies.
  • Provides high-level customer service and builds strategic relationships maintaining a positive working relationship with internal customers, and other stakeholders to obtain cooperation and support during negotiations and future business reviews.
  • Engages internal and external stakeholders as needed to achieve optimal outcome on behalf of CHCO.
  • Facilitates the evaluation, trialing, introduction and adoption of new products and services.
  • Facilitates and coordinates business reviews of contractual performance of both parties to ensure compliance with terms and to identify conflicts or changes requiring resolution at contract renewal.
  • Manages contract termination procedures or renewals as needed.

As a newly established role within the organization, the Senior Category Management Specialist for Capital Sourcing will lead strategic sourcing events and supplier management processes for Capital investments. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence long-term organizational investments by driving competitive sourcing strategies, optimizing total cost of ownership, and building strong partnerships with stakeholders and suppliers. Success will be measured through achievement of capital savings and cost avoidance targets, supplier performance improvement, increased standardization, and delivery of capital solutions that support operational, financial, and strategic objectives.

Job Status: Full-time, Salaried. Hybrid (60% in office, 40% remote- subject to change), will require travel to other campuses at times.

  • Supervision Received: Performs work with minimal supervisory oversight. Work assignment is generally unstructured and employee is responsible for organizing complex, varied, and simultaneous coordination of several functions, programs, or projects in various stages of completion.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degrees
    • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field is required
  • Experience

Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $90,900.59 to $136,350.88
