Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) seeks a Senior Catastrophe Analyst to join the CAT E&A team in evaluating catastrophe risk for individual accounts. You will analyze vendor and internal models, and support underwriting decisions with insights into risk across the portfolio.

Based in San Ramon, this role involves training underwriters and refining CAT tools to reflect BHSI’s view of risk. Lead reports to the US Accounts lead and collaborate with global teams.

Qualifications

• Strong written and oral communication tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven ability to analyze complex data and present clear conclusions.
• Detail oriented with a rigorous approach to validate results and justify conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Complete CAT assessment on accounts using vendor and internal models and tools.
• Explain CAT concepts and results to underwriters to inform risk decisions.
• Conduct periodic training for underwriters on CAT modeling and risk.
• Integrate BHSI’s view of risk into CAT modeling tools and platform.
• Provide guidance to related account modeling operations and improve evaluation processes.
